The Esher Listed Cottage

This Grade II listed cottage was fully redesigned and carefully restored to create a warm, comfortable home that respected its heritage while supporting modern living. The brief was to bring light, personality, and a sense of ease to a property that felt dark and dated, without losing the character that made it special.

Working across the entire two-bedroom cottage, including the lounge, kitchen and dining space, bedrooms, and bathrooms, the design balanced original features such as exposed beams, fireplaces, and low ceilings with thoughtful modernisation. Bespoke joinery, new kitchen and bathrooms, and layered lighting were introduced to improve function while maintaining an understated feel.

Durability and longevity were key considerations, with the clients viewing this as their forever home and a place to entertain and enjoy. Delivered within a nine-month programme and fully managed from start to finish, the result is a cottage that feels welcoming, refined, and quietly luxurious, honouring its history while being entirely suited to the way our clients live today.
